MOVEMENT
The body as a place to practise attention, adaptation and response.
Movement not simply as something to perform, but as a way of noticing what changes — and developing the capacity to move with it.
MOVING TO MINDFUL
MOVING TO MINDFUL
From the way we move, to the way we teach, lead and organise — Moving to Mindful explores the conditions that allow humans to respond well.
HUMAN CAPACITY
It changes with the conditions around us — the environments we inhabit, the systems we work within, the demands placed upon us, and the resources available to respond.
Moving to Mindful works with those conditions.
Sometimes that begins with the body and movement. Sometimes with the way someone teaches or learns. Sometimes with a team, a culture or an organisation.
The context changes.
The human remains the point.
IN PRACTICE
Moving to Mindful works wherever the conditions around a human affect their capacity to respond.
01
The body as a place to practise attention, adaptation and response.
Movement not simply as something to perform, but as a way of noticing what changes — and developing the capacity to move with it.
02
Supporting the people who work with people.
Developing practitioners who can understand what they are seeing, make better decisions in the moment, and adapt without losing purpose.
03
Looking beyond the individual to the conditions they exist within.
The structures, expectations, behaviours and cultures that can either support human capacity — or quietly consume it.
THE PRINCIPLE
VINNY LEWIS-JAMERSON
Moving to Mindful grew from more than two decades of working with people, human behaviour and development, organisational structure and change.
My work began with the mind — understanding people, behaviour, relationships and the structures around them. That work has included leading through periods of crisis, restructuring organisations, and creating the conditions in which people could continue to function through significant change.
Movement later gave me another way into that same enquiry. Through training, Pilates and movement education, the body became a practical place to explore attention, adaptation and response.
Over time, those strands increasingly converged: how we move, how we learn and teach, how we lead, and how the architecture and interfaces of our lives and functions influence our capacity to respond.
What allows a human being to respond well to what is actually in front of them?
The answer is rarely more instruction, more control or more complexity.
Often, it begins with understanding what can be made more reliable — and what must remain adaptable.
That thinking became Moving to Mindful.
Through our bodies, our relationships, our roles, environments and organisations, we are continually moving between changing conditions.
It is an orientation.
It describes the repeated act of turning our attention towards what is actually happening — noticing what is changing, understanding what can remain constant, and retaining the capacity to respond rather than simply react.
Because conditions will change again.
Create enough stability to remain responsive to them.
